Volunteer and Staff Policy
For the purposes of this policy, the words “staff” and “volunteers” are interchangeable.
- Leadership Behaviors
- All members of volunteer teams are expected to lead by example in regard to behavior and server policies.
- Kindness and respect is to be given to all members of the community, and preferential treatment of any kind is prohibited. Showing favouritism will be met with disciplinary action.
- Staff cliques are prohibited.
- Any form of negative behaviors, actions, or policy breaking will be met with disciplinary action.
- Confidentiality
- Private or sensitive information can not be shared unless explicitly given permission by appropriate parties.
- Sensitive information includes, but is not limited to: IP addresses, investigative evidence, storylines, character plot points, and any other information which, within reason, one might want kept a secret.
- When in doubt as to whether or not information needs to be kept to yourself, either refrain from sharing or ask the appropriate parties.
- Transparency, Accountability, and Integrity
- All members of volunteer teams are public knowledge.
- Mistakes must be acknowledged for the sake of community health. There will be no sweeping anything under the rug.
- Any powers granted to you as a member of a volunteer team are for the purposes of making contributions to Eldmourne alone. Any abuse of powers given to you for volunteer purposes will result in disciplinary action.
- Abuse of power includes, but is not limited to: using power for personal gain, preferential treatment, or any other reasons not mentioned here as deemed by server leadership.
- Conflict Resolution
- All conflict resolution should be done without bias.
- If it is impossible for a person to make a judgement without bias, said person is not to weigh in on that particular conflict.
- Professionalism, kindness, and respect are to be upheld, especially in cases with tension.
- Applications, Tickets, and Volunteer Duties
- Reports, tickets, applications, and other server duties are to be performed within a reasonable time frame. It is unfair to the members of the Eldmourne community to do otherwise.
- Applications must be approved with fairness.
- Tickets must be responded to with fairness.
- Volunteers who do not perform the duties in which their title requires will be stripped of their title and depending on the severity of the infraction, placed on a blacklist.
- Policies and Rules
- All policies, rules, and guidelines are to be upheld by staff.
- Infractions are subject to disciplinary action up to and including permanent bans, as well as a stripping of any and all staff titles.
- Volunteers are to ensure adherence to rules, policies, guidelines, etc. in their presence.
- Decision Making
- All decisions, regardless as to weight, are to be made without bias and with the server’s best interest at heart.
- Decisions require approval from team leads or administration before they are able to be passed through.
- Decisions regarding moderation, staff applications, and other topics which may be described as ‘weighted’ are to be decided by vote.
- Decisions are final unless otherwise stated by a team lead or administration and are not open to further discussion unless there is valid reason as determined by a member of moderation or administration.
- Vote Abnegation
- Any decision may be abnegated, or abstained, from if the person voting feels they are unable to make a decision without setting aside any biases for the betterment of the server.
- Some contexts require abnegation from a vote, which include but are not limited to: votes regarding romantic, familial, or other close relationships in or out of character which may affect bias, votes regarding a person or persons which the voting individual dislikes, and other circumstances in which bias is unable to be avoided.
