Roleplay Rules

  1. IC vs OOC
    1. When roleplaying, one should act as the character they are portraying. Interactions, decisions, conversations, etc. should align with the values, personality, motivations, and goals of your character as opposed to your own.
    2. Clarifications, off topic discussions, or other out of character activities should be done through the appropriate channels.
  2. Respecting Others
    1. Respect the boundaries of others. If you are causing discomfort listen to the person you are roleplaying with or step away. Forcing uncomfortable situations or ignoring boundaries will result in disciplinary action.
    2. Powergaming is the forcing of actions on yourself or others so that they are unavoidable regardless as to whether or not they should be possible. Powergaming will be met with disciplinary action.
    3. Metagaming is using information your character does not have for the benefit of yourself or someone else. Metagaming will be met with disciplinary action.
  3. Character Development
    1. Characters should be original and fit within the setting.
    2. Characters must be unique. You cannot play a “Parry Hotter”. You cannot play the daughter of a character from something else. Inspiration is okay, but there must be something unique about the character you play.
  4. Clarity In Communication
    1. Emotes should be understandable. Actions must be described, and dialogue must be between quotation marks.
    2. Grammar does not need to be perfect, but need to be readable.
  5. Consistency
    1. The tech lock, setting, abilities, etc. must stay true to the realm of Eldmourne.
    2. Your character’s actions must be consistent with their character and be believable in the world.
  6. Combat
    1. Combat is primarily done through our mechanical systems, however honor combat is allowed if both parties agree.
    2. If there is a disagreement in method of rp combat, the default is the server’s combat system.
    3. PVP is not a valid method of combat.
  7. Drama and Conflicts
    1. Out of character conflicts, drama, etc. are not to be dealt with in character
    2. In character conflicts, drama, etc. are not to be dealt with out of character.
    3. Any conflict which cannot be resolved between parties must be taken to a moderation ticket in order for a proper resolution to take place.
  8. Health and Safety
    1. If for any reason roleplay becomes toxic, unhealthy, taxing, unfun, or any other sort of a negative influence, one is to step back and remove themself from the situation.
    2. If it is not fun, stop. This is Minecraft roleplay, these are pixel people, if it is stressing you out step back and take a break.
    3. You are worth more than MCRP will ever be.
